MamaAfrica: Weekend

So what did we do this weekend...? Umm... Let me think :D

Friday was the last day at the orphanage. It was bittersweet. On the other hand it was great that it's "over" and we don't have to go there anymore, but on the other I really liked being there! We'll most likely go visit/volunteer one of these weekends.

I was chosen to talk and to present the gifts to the owner of the handicapped section here. I burst into tears half way through because they are so dedicated to doing their best to keep all the children happy! I just feel so bad for the kids, I mean they've been abandoned! By their mothers! They have NO ONE! And then these complete strangers take them in and care for them, bathe them, feed them, talk to them. They nurse monst of these children back to health and have never had a baby die there! A single incident with a three year old boy is the exception, but he most likely would've died anyway, wherever he was. He go sick so fast and nothing could be done.

The day went by quickly and we were all a little emotional that day. One of the girls completely fell for a little boy and it broke her heart to leave him there. She'd adopt him if it was possible. But she's too young and her parents are too old. It breaks my heart to see that break hers, even though we've only known each other for a few weeks.

In the evening out teacher came over with one of the local teachers to discuss our placements and to check that everything was ok. She was meant to bring some cream liquor and/or wine but she "came straight from the university" and didn't have time to go get them... -.- Oh well. We made pizza and it was delish! Although mine turned out like a calzone/pizza roll.

On Saturday we were originally meant to go to the pool to sunbathe, but it ended up being a cloudy day so we went shopping instead! We decided to hit the streets to see what we could buy from there and some of us even found some presents for people back home! I didn't mind at all to be honest, I'm not too fond of sunbathing. So shopping was great for me!

After shopping we were hungry so we decided to go grab some lunch. Soooo we started walking towards the shopping centre about a km away. We're in a park and we notice someone trying to talk to us. We just ignore him and walk away a little faster. He followed us and followed us even though we were practically speed walking! My heart was pounding and adrenaline was rushing through my veins! We ducked into the shopping centre and lost him, thankfully!

After that we had some lunch (steak <3) and went to the pool to get some sun for the rest of the day!

On Sunday I did my laundry and made some food. We also tasted mud and I can tell you that wasn't very nice! Nothing much happened on the day of rest as I stayed behind while the others went to the pool. I just felt like staying home for a bit on my own.

So the internet's been super slow and we've had no electricity for half the past few nights so this blog is SUPER late! Sorry x) next one coming up tomorrow! (Hopefully!)
